My name is Mahendra McWhite and this is my partner Preacher. I am a certified professional canine behaviorist. After graduating from Barton community college with an associates degree in Animal Science. My journey with Dogs began in 2018. Even while I was still a student-athlete at the University of Oklahoma, I majored in wildlife and Conservation while minoring in psychology. In school, I strived to always be the one asking additional questions, always asking why or why not. To understand the world’s inhibitors, we must understand their language. Humans are the only species on the planet that primarily uses speech as a form of communication, but we expect dogs to understand us thoroughly. To respect animals, you have to respect their origin, where they come from and who they were before domestication. Animals have always relied on body language to communicate to others. A great example of human body language is when we get goosebumps, when your face turns from being nervous, or when the hairs stand on the back of your neck. Humans are the only species that deny this universal and primary form of communication. I believe tapping back into primitive communication skills will strengthen your relationship with your dog.

Nature has given us two ears, two eyes but one tongue to the end we should hear and see more than we speak.

In 2021, I graduated with my (BS) in Wildlife & Conservation, with a minor in psychology. I started K9 Leadership Academy in hopes to create a more ethical understanding of canine ownership. Growing up I always dreamt of becoming of veterinarian like Dr. Dolittle. I may not be a veterinarian, but at least I can talk to animals.
